Musings on the Future

It’s 2017 and I have a birthday coming up next Monday. Another decade of change. That’s pretty freakin’ staggering. There was a time I was in so much of a hurry to grow up–as if that was going to bring so much to the table–and now all I can think is I want that time back…slow it down. I’d like the energy and hopefulness of my youth back. I’d like to be less jaded, more patient and generous, kinder and gentler, but time is streaking past me and time is valuable.

Wait! Stop for just a minute!

Then yesterday I spoke to my Aunt Claire who will turn 100 tomorrow, and she’s looking forward to being able to dance again this year. And she’s going to. That puts 70 in perspective and shames me into making plans. I too will dance a little everyday this year, once for me, and once while I think of my Aunt Claire.

As for writing, I have plans for Franco’s series and my book of the heart, Gemini, and getting out in the public and sharing what I’ve learned over the years. I have two reunions and plan to spend time with my grandchildren. I’m going to travel for pleasure and if I don’t get around to it this year I will next year.

So push aside your fears, disregard those nay sayers, and face the future as if nothing is impossible and use every moment to it’s fullest.Forever is illusive. Time is now and it belongs to you.

Free lance writer, Ailsa Jackson is finished dating executives. She’s looking for hot sexual fantasies with a man who fits her needs… “All muscle, stamina and no commitment.” The assignment in the UK sounds perfect when she’s assigned to interview an American CEO who recently inherited lands and a title in Scotland.

She tosses her inhibitions aside for the first Highlander she encounters–prepared to research all the old myths about brawny Highlanders and answer the age old, burning question: What does a Scotsman wear beneath his kilt?

Colin Fitzgerald knows it’s wrong to deceive Ailsa, but he can’t risk her discovering his true identity before he seduces her. Unfortunately, he is everything Ailsa hates. Yet if he can become the lover she adores, perhaps he can convince her they’re perfect for each other.

He has one night to prove he’s no stuffed shirt and three weeks to become everything she desires in a lusty lover. His adventurous lass is imaginative and willing. But can lust turn to love so quickly? And will they be ready for more than a Hot Highland Fling when their time together draws to an end?

Across A Crowded Room Books 1-3

Innocence Lost, Book 1
While working with the secret International Anti-Terrorist Organization, privately referred to as IATO, agent Jason DesJardin survives the deadly explosion that seriously injures his partner, Harrison James and kills his mentor, Senior Agent Avery Holmes. After discovering evidence of a mole in the organization, Jason goes deep undercover to find the man behind the kill order. Guilt, a dark secret from his past, and the need to protect Avery’s daughter, prevents Jason from returning to Emily and exposing her to the dangerous elements of his job. Instead of being with her, he watches and guards her from a distance, refusing to accept that rejecting her hurts both of them.
Emily is ready to prove she’s stronger than Jason realizes. Accepting the man she loves is alive and avoiding her is not an option. She’s determined to finish her training with her father’s black ops organization, IATO, find the answers haunting her past, and once and for all, prove she can take care of herself. When she discovers ties between the old car bombing that killed her father and the terrorists she’s investigating, she finagles an assignment on to Jason’s team and their next IATO mission. She will get the stolen nanotech chip back from the arms dealer looking to broker the secret technology to the terrorists and investigate the contact to her father’s death.

The Monte Carlo Affair, Book 2
The balance of world power drops into Emily’s inexperienced hands, and she is forced to play a dangerous game of seduction with Mosel Reinhardt, the notorious international arms dealer, while her team and Jason look on. Is Reinhardt peddling the nanotech chip technology, or are Emily’s instincts about him correct?
The mission heats up when Jason finds he can no longer resist her—his old friend’s daughter, the agency computer genius has gone femme fatale and she’s too hot for him to handle, and neither can Mosel. The man who’s never cared about anyone or anything actually seems to care about Emily. After years of waiting to have her again, the tables turn on Jason. He’s unwilling to share her with anyone, let alone his oldest rival, even for the mission. But will he be able to watch her seduce Mosel in order to find her father’s killer and stop the madness? Would she stop if he asked her?

Cyber Seduction, Book 3
Emily and Jason barely escape Monte Carlo with their identities intact after retrieving the nanotech chip, and then once again Jason distances himself from Emily. The continued plan includes enticing Mosel to follow Emily back to Washington, DC where they expect him to meet with the terrorists and their contact. The danger to her escalates but it’s imperative they uncover the mole in their agency.
The tables turn on Jason and Emily when he risks everything to get the answers he’s been looking for and is captured. Emily takes a risk and enlists Mosel’s help to save him. As the story unravels, convoluted secrets from the past surface, expose old guilt and childish misconceptions, and finally shed light on old nightmares.

“Five star – Working relationships often grow into friendships and on rare occasions sprout into a sensual attraction. Will an older woman give-in to her attraction to a younger man? I loved these two characters. The author showed us both the complexity and vulnerability of a man and a woman in need of more than the successes they’d worked for. This was a short, believable story with an exceptionally high heat level. One of those stories you keep to read again and again. ~~~Grandma Vonnie”

“…This romance gets a high five for being a seductive delight that was both charming and stimulating.
For a short story, this book felt complete. Even though Ms. March had to jump into the sexual high points fairly quick, she chose effective and believable disclosures from the hero to make me believe his feelings and commitment to the heroine were genuine and not fly-by-night.
I am pleased and amazed as to how well the author paced her tale so that the buildup had a rock-solid feel to it. The explanation of where Cari was in her life and the decision and fears she had were done naturally during the course of the story It never felt like a narrative with the author trying to justify the quick progression. No, Ms. March was a masterful surgeon, giving me what I needed to know in just the right way and in just the right amount. Could it have been longer? For most short stories, I’d say, yes. But not this time. Maybe it was how the book ended, I’m not absolutely sure, but I felt pretty happy with the outcome…. ~~~LAS Reviews”

Promoting – Taking a Break

After turning in my last book to my editor, I’m taking a short break and feeling guilty for not jumping right into the next book or diving into promotions. I’m spending time with my oldest grandson ans having fun playing HANGMAN. (Good practice for vocabulary and spelling.) I am thinking about my next book…mentally organizing it at least. What I’m not doing is promoting. Does an author have to keep promoting every day?

I guess if you want to keep your profile up front with readers, sadly the answer is … yes. Think about the level of competition out there. How many authors, how many pen names, how many books get published daily? It’s daunting to consider.

Fortunately, I have enough books out right now that I can rotate them to prevent boring my fans with book commercials, but I still need time to write…new blogs, ads, twitter, facebook stuff, etc. Oh yes …and the next book on my agenda. I have several author friends I’ve discussed this with. Some think they can only promote the last book they wrote; others don’t like promoting at all. (Who does?) Some do book signings, some do online events.  I, on the other hand, like to mix it up. But one thing I do believe is that I should promote all of my books equally; one because I write several genres, awriting copynd two because not everyone has read  nor heard of everything I’ve written…yet. Until then, I will always have potential new readers for my books.

After a decade of editing, I put on my editor hat and wrote a book for writers. Maximum Impact is for any type of writer. If you write short or long, fiction or non-fiction, copy write, or write ad matter, I discuss the various technical needs we as writers encounter. Take notes and write examples in the paperback. Use it like a journal. Bookmark and enter your own thoughts in the ebook. This is a book you can grow with no matter what length books or projects you’re working on.

Together they uncover a diabolical plan to biologically enhance the shifters with dire DNA and explore their strange, irresistible attraction. Can’t wait for a cover and a release date. DeWolf’s Salon and Spa: AS THE CHAIR TURNS by Eliza March

image

I’ve been working on an ongoing project that’s about a hair colorist named Delia who is the only human working in the high end spa in Boca, owned and run by Franco DeWolf alias Frankie the wolf. Iresistible to the social elite clientele, he talks a big show but thank goodness the staff is there to cover his useless ass. Why the siren on the rock for inspiration?  Delia’s ninety year old aunt returns to her lost siren beauty once a month as she sings through the night out on the beach. It’s only later that Delia’s gift of song becomes exposed for what it is…siren blood and she’s horrified!

The series, called As the Chair Turns, is an ongoing humorous paranormal serial about Delia and Frankie and the local interaction between the supernaturals and the spa’s human clients.

Start looking for  DeWolf’s Salon and Spa in the early spring of 2017.

Kitchen update

I know you’ve been waiting  impatiently to see how the kitchen project is coming along. Ha ha! But although it seems like I’ve been making coffee in the bathroom forever, it’s only been since last month. Now that it’s finally coming along, I’m loving it. We had a major glitch after the granite went in. The backsplash we bought a couple of years ago just didn’t look right with it.

We both adore the backsplash. But there was no way of making it work. So I started my hunt for a new backsplash. Absolutely nothing appealed to me …well let me rephrase that …everything appealed to me — it just wouldn’t go with the granite on the countertops or the cabinets.

I began my hunt online and found something I thought might work. I liked the texture of it, and I figured I could find the color to go with what we had. Later that day when my husband came home from work, we made a trip out to the tile store. The last row, the last aisle, in the back corner, they had just brought in a new display and, as we looked at it, we both said yes, that’s what we’re looking for.

Look at that texture, look at the colors. It’s all natural stone, rocks my favorite things. I get to stare at the details, search the crystals, look inside the little tiny geodes. Every little space is a world in itself. I can go exploring on the backsplash in the kitchen while I’m washing dishes.

Nope. The kitchen is not done yet. But at least that one wall is finished. We still have one to go. Then it’s the challenge of that pass through over the sink. We may need ideas, and are certainly going to need help. The granite slab is sitting here in my family room waiting to get installed.
